Summerville, SC – In the New Year, our team has completed three commercial projects in North and South Carolina. First to be completed was a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array for Trident Technical College’s North Charleston Campus. The 282.4-kilowatt system is located at the new Aeronautical Training Center. Since our customer is an educational entity, HSGS’ in-house engineering team developed an interactive design that allows faculty members and students of Trident Tech to walk through, observe, and learn about solar energy.
In the mountains of Murphy, NC, the state’s first major casino now has a 705.6-kW ground-mounted solar PV system. Harrah’s Cherokee Valley Casino & Hotel opened its casino’s doors in 1997 and has abundantly grown in the years since, building the hotel and adding restaurants like Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Paula Dean’s Kitchen. Due to its impressive growth, Harrah’s decided they needed to incorporate renewable energy to reduce energy costs and reduce their impact on the environment.
The final project to be wrapped up was in service of local boating company, Scout Boats. Their Summerville, SC facility has a large, flat roof, and it was a perfect candidate for a large roof-mounted solar PV system. Scout awarded HSGS the contract, and we designed and installed their new 592.8-kW renewable energy system. It features over 1,800 solar modules and will generate over 775,750-kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy in the first year of production—enough to power over 65 homes.
