Q2 2018 – July 15, 2018
Charleston, SC – Our team has completed four projects this past quarter for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NASA, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), as well as Trane, a commercial manufacturing company. The CDC project is the final of three contracts on Atlanta-area campuses to be completed, this one being a 250+ kilowatt ground-mounted system at the Lawrenceville campus. Two more roof-mounted systems were completed last year at Roybal and Chamblee campuses, respectively.
Our team has additionally completed installation of a 125-kW roof-mounted system for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This installation is part of NASA’s goal to revitalize many of the pre-Apollo era facilities as the world’s leader in spaceflight. In Texas, we completed the installation of a 2.5-megawatt ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array at El Paso’s Intelligence Center (EPIC). The system will produce an estimated 4,500,000-kilowatt-hours annually, which represents 85% of the facility’s power usage.
Finally, our team completed the installation of Trane’s Coil Plant manufacturing facility in Columbia, South Carolina. The solar photovoltaic (PV) system totals 1.35-megawatts and is mounted to the roof, taking advantage of the large, otherwise unusable space. The energy produced from this solar array will be used to power the manufacturing facility’s day-to-day operations. Originally opened as a plumbing and pipe-fitting shop in 1885, Trane is now a large manufacturer of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Father-son duo James and Reuben Tran both invented products that progressed heating and air systems to reach premium efficiency.
In addition to these completed projects, we have been awarded two commercial projects. We will begin designing a ground mount for Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel in the mountains of North Carolina, as well as a roof-mounted system for local boating company, Scout Boats, located in the greater Charleston area.
