HANNAH SOLAR GOVERNMENT SERVICES 2023 YEAR-IN-REVIEW

Jan 15, 2024 | News and Announcements

Summerville, SC – Last year, Hannah Solar Government Services’ (HSGS) focus was on Engineering contracts as well as projects with our Joint Venture company, HSGS-Ameresco. To learn more about the successes of the JV, please read our newsletter that was released last month, “HSGS-Ameresco 2023 Year-In-Review.”

First, HSGS completed work on a modest roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array at The Citadel: The Military College of the South, specifically the newly renovated Capers Hall. The roof array is 137.7-kilowatts and will be easily maintained by our Operations and Maintenance Department (O&M), as it is only a short 30-minute drive from the HSGS office in Summerville. Capers Hall holds the largest school at The Citadel—the School of Humanities and Social Sciences—, boasts 39 classrooms, and will continue educating the cadets that walk through its halls.

Our team at HSGS has been awarded two Design-Only contracts, both for Federal departments. First, we were awarded a Design-Only contract with the Department of Energy for Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in Livermore, California by way of Johnson Controls Governments Systems. Under this contract, our NABCEP-certified PV designers and licensed Professional Engineers (P.E.) will design a 5-megawatt ground-mounted solar PV system with battery energy storage. We are very excited to continue our work with JCGS and the Department of Energy.

In addition to the SNL contract, we have been awarded another Design-Only contract for the Department of Defense at Fort Irwin in California by way of Ameresco. This contract required an Issued for Construction (IFC) design, which can only be stamped by engineers with specific authority, and we are lucky to be home to three of those engineers. The design will be a 3.5 MW single-axis tracking PV system at Fort Irwin’s National Training Center. Our engineers and PV designers are working hard on these two projects.
