COAST GUARD ACADEMY PROJECTS COMPLETED

Q3 2019 – October 15, 2019

Summerville, SC – When the Coast Guard Academy (CGA) wanted to integrate renewable energy into their facilities, their contractor, Ameresco—a leading cleantech integrator around the world—sent them to Hannah Solar Government Services (HSGS). Our team of dedicated NABCEP-certified photovoltaic (PV) designers and licensed Professional Engineers (P.E.) designed two roof-mounted solar PV systems on two CGA buildings, Waesche and Roland Hall.

A 170.1-kilowatt PV system was installed on the roof of CGA’s Waesche Hall, named after Admiral Russell R. Waesche. The Admiral was a commandant of the Coast Guard during World War II, and the building named in his honor is home to the Coast Guard Museum, library, and admissions office. On the roof of Roland Hall, our team installed a 285.3-kW solar PV system. Roland Hall is a five-level athletic complex that hosts a six-lane swimming pool, weight room, and indoor track, as well as gyms for basketball and volleyball. These two renewable energy systems will help provide clean energy to each facility as well as cut costs for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
